Details
Bypass pruners cut like scissors — two curved blades pass each other for a clean slice that doesn't crush the stem. The right kind for live wood: roses, perennials, light branches, deadheading. (Anvil-style pruners are for dead wood; they crush green stems.)
SK-5 high-carbon steel holds an edge well. Adjustable tension lets you tighten the pivot if the blades start to flex apart on a stubborn cut, and the safety lock keeps them closed in storage. Keep them clean and oiled and they last for years; sharpen once a season for a smooth cut.
