Sod is the instant lawn: no germination wait, no washouts on slopes, green the day it goes down. Ours arrives at the yard fresh daily during the growing season — commercial sod-farm Kentucky bluegrass, the same rolls the landscape crews use — and what doesn’t sell that day rarely lasts. Freshness is the whole game with sod, so we’d rather sell out than sell you yesterday’s pallet.

Shade sod roll — 10 sq ft (2′ × 5′)$7.50 eachShade-tolerant blend; 60-roll minimum on orders

Estimating is simple: your square footage ÷ 10 = rolls. A 500 sq ft repair is 50 rolls — $350 in sod.

Reserve a day ahead. Sod has to be installed within 12–24 hours of harvest to establish well, and daily loads usually sell out. Call (847) 358-4010 the day before with your roll count and we’ll have it waiting.

Prep is 80% of the result

Sod roots into what’s under it. Amend and level the area with pulverized topsoil ($40/cu yd, delivered by the same trucks), pre-water lightly, lay the rolls edge-to-edge with staggered seams, then roll for firm sod-to-soil contact and water deeply for the first two weeks until it’s rooted. Our topsoil-for-a-new-lawn guide covers depths and quantities — most new-lawn projects order the topsoil delivery first and pick up sod the morning they lay it.

Pickup and delivery

Most sod goes out the gate on trucks and trailers — we load you at the yard, 20136 N. Rand Road in Deer Park. Rolls can also ride along with a bulk material delivery (topsoil under, sod on top, one trip), anywhere in our 15-mile delivery area. Grass seed, starter fertilizer, and Penn Mulch are on the Lawn & Seed shelf if you’re seeding the edges.

Fresh-Cut Sod

How much does sod cost?

$7.00 per roll, and each roll covers 10 sq ft (2′ × 5′). The shade-tolerant blend is $7.50 with a 60-roll minimum on orders. Square footage ÷ 10 = rolls needed.

How fresh is it, really?

It comes in daily during the growing season and usually sells out the same day. Sod should be laid within 12–24 hours of harvest — that’s why we run it fresh instead of stockpiling pallets.

Do you deliver sod?

Rolls can ride along with a bulk material delivery — most new-lawn projects put pulverized topsoil and sod on the same truck. For sod-only quantities, pickup at the Deer Park yard is the usual route; call and we’ll figure out what works for your job.

When should I lay sod?

Spring and early fall are the easiest windows in the Chicago suburbs — cooler air, warm soil, regular rain. Summer installs work too if you can keep up with watering for the first two weeks. Prep with topsoil either way.
